Monitoring and evaluation
Indicators
POPPHI is working with a broader postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) community to fine tune the indicators used for active management of the third stage of labor (AMTSL) and community-based prevention of PPH. The proposed overarching result is to increase the use of AMTSL for births to prevent PPH.
Please click on the links for each indicator to view them in detail.
Indicator 1 (54 KB PDF): (Updated April 19, 2007) Indicator 1 is the proposed global AMTSL indicator that would be used across many projects. NOTE: Indicator 1 focuses on facility-based births or home births with a skilled birth attendant attached to a facility.
Indicator 2 (25 KB PDF): (Updated January 10, 2007) Indicator 2 is an extrapolation of Indicator 1, but it is only based in areas that the United States Agency for International Development is currently conducting projects and is not being used to estimate national-level coverage.
Indicator 3 (47 KB PDF): (Updated January 11, 2007) Indicator 3 is used to measure whether community postpartum hemorrhage prevention occurred at home births with non-skilled birth attendants.
